Students in Algonquin College’s Event Management program are working to raise $1 million for Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

Each year, students in both the fall and winter intakes of the Event Management program plan and execute a variety of events in support of Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. To keep things interesting for the students, the budget for these events is $0! Despite this challenge, in the past five years the students have raised nearly over $500,000 including over $127,000 by the 2012 graduating classes alone.

The 2014 events are just around the corner. Two events are ‘Gatspeak’ and ‘Sailing to a Wish’.

Gatspeak is an evening inspired by a 20’s speakeasy and a glamorous Jay Gatsby party. It will be taking place on Friday March 21 at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre. An evening filled with fedoras, flapper dresses, headbands and pearls. You will be mesmerized by the delectable meal, the glamour, the entertainment, the fashion, the food and much more. Tickets for this event are $50. Learn more at http://gatspeak.wix.com/gatspeak

Sailing to a Wish: Who Done it on the Bluenose is a murder mystery event taking place March 23rd at the Nepean Sailing Club. The captain will guide you through a sea inspired cocktail hour, a tasty dinner and scrumptious desserts whilst witnessing a crime unfold. This interactive, theatre-type, fundraising dinner will allow each guest to become a detective as they attempt to tie clues together to solve a crime at sea. Tickets are $45 dollars.
